The structure would measure six feet by six feet, and each winter he would simply leave the structure standing, so as the ice went out every year it would take the hut with it. Across the lake, the local native community at Curve Lake would observe this annual ritual, and soon conferred the name Six Foot Bay. When Leslie and Nettie Hall began playing host to American fishermen in 1949, they decided to keep the name. Leslie Hall, who had originally paid for the land by trapping and selling muskrat skins, decided to parcel off lots of land and sell them for $1,000 apiece. This
